About Amanda
Amanda Lee Kilby writes the weekly UNFIXED newsletter under pen name KILBY OG. She is a Grief Literacy Advisor who helps small and mid-size organizations respond to grief with competence and humanity.
Grief inevitably intersects with professional life, yet many leaders feel unprepared when employees experience loss. Amanda works with organizations to develop grief-literate leadership cultures where loss can be acknowledged appropriately without turning managers into therapists.
Professional Background
Amanda holds a professional certificate in Death, Dying and Bereavement from Wilfrid Laurier University and brings experience in crisis counselling along with lived experience navigating complex loss. A bereaved mother, she navigated the death of her youngest son before launching Brand Writer Co., where she developed and presented strategies for companies including Microsoft, The Business Leadership Podcast, TEDx Ottawa and more.
Continuously drawn to grief work and motivated by peers who found her writing about grief honest and refreshing in the wake of loss, Amanda pursued formal training in 2023.
Amanda helps organizations navigate grief in the workplace with the human depth and nuance digital platforms and AI lack.
Her work focuses on helping leaders develop the language and confidence needed when grief enters professional environments.
